This quarter through the Calnex Corporate Giving Scheme, Calnex donated £3,500 to employee nominated charities. This included an increase to our budget over the festive period so we could once again support the HopScotch Charity, in place of our annual Christmas Charity Raffle. Organisations receiving donations included Mesothelioma UK who support people with asbestos cancer, Edinburgh’s Children’s Hospital Charity who support young children and their families, and the Linlithgow Tennis Club who are fundraising to resurface their courts.
In addition, our Linlithgow employees were asked if they would be willing to bring in children’s toys to help support the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas who ensure disadvantaged children get a special Christmas. We also appealed for non-perishable food, toiletries and cleaning supplies to donate to the West Lothian Food Bank. Even though we had less than 2 weeks to donate, the Linlithgow office pulled-off an amazing amount of donations. Calnex made online donations to both charities.
Due to COVID-19 we sadly had to cancel our eagerly awaited Christmas Party. Unfortunately the cancellation deadline with the Scotsman Hotel was missed meaning we were unable to receive a refund. All of our meals had already been ordered in so we couldn’t let all of those yummy meals go to waste! We asked the Scotsman Hotel if they would be willing to cook the meals and allow us to collect the food instead, which they very kindly agreed too.
After several phone calls around various charities and organisations, we finally got through to Street Work, who help provide support for the homeless and those in extremely difficult circumstances. Calnex donated the 73 cooked meals provided by the Scotsman Hotel.
