Business Systems Coordinator

Claire Percival

What did you study and where?

I did my undergraduate degree at the University of St Andrews, where I studied Modern History and Social Anthropology. I then went on to do a MSc in Sustainability Science, Policy and Society with a Specialisation in Business at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

What initially attracted you to the Graduate role at Calnex?

I previously did an internship with Calnex in Summer 2024, and I was excited by the prospect of working full time for the company. When I saw that they were hiring a business systems co-ordinator, I was keen to apply because of the culture Calnex has, and how they treat their employees. There really is a focus on employee development, and for a first career job I was keen to be in an environment that fostered my professional growth, and expanded my abilities.

Tell us any highlights you have experienced since starting with Calnex.

A highlight would be the ‘Pub Quiz’ social. It was really nice to get to know people in a setting outside of the office, and I had a lot of fun testing my general knowledge! Calnex does some really great social and wellbeing events.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love how varied the role is. There’s so much to get involved with in Calnex, and I work with people in many different areas of the business. I get to share my ideas, and learn so much in a really supportive environment. Every day really is a school day!

What advice would you give to anyone considering a Graduate role at Calnex?

My advice would be to just go for it! There is nothing to lose, and everything to gain from working at a company like Calnex. Pay attention to the application, and make sure that you highlight your key skills, and what you could bring to the company.

Have you participated in any of the volunteering activities hosted by Calnex? If so, how have you enjoyed them?

I have! I recently volunteered at the River Kids event in Broxburn, to help preparations for their Christmas Toy Drive. I really enjoyed it, it was so nice to give back to the local community in a meaningful way. I’m looking forward to getting involved in the next volunteering opportunity.
