The pursuing of my career goal and the growth opportunity with Calnex.
Q: Talk us through a typical day at Calnex?
I joined Calnex during the 2nd wave of COVID19 pandemic. Therefore, I work from home most of the time. I always start with a coffee latte and check my to-do-list in the morning to finish those actions that can be done quickly, and then I will focus on answering complicated and technical related questions via emails or JIRA ticket system in the afternoon. Sometimes I will attend online conference calls and visit customer on-site for presales activities with distributors in Taiwan. I will finish the day by submitting a call report or trip report to call it a day.
Q: Most challenging aspect for your job?
During the first half year, I’d say the most challenging part is to quickly pick up the domain knowledge and technical know-hows required to finish my job and support customers. And now the most challenging aspect would be how to do my best and propose solid business development strategy to growth business opportunities with Calnex and local distributors.
Q: What skills do you need to succeed in the role?
I would say solid professional knowledge, customer and agent management skill and technical marketing skill.
Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to be an Applications Engineer?
FAE is an interesting and challenging role, and you are not only on behalf of your company but also a key bridge between customer needs and company wants. To be a successful FAE in Calnex, you will need to acquire adequate knowledge in our products and technologies. A good FAE will know how to handle local customers and turn its pain point and requirements successfully to help local distributors close the deal.
Q: What do you do for downtime?
I like to watch Netflix, pet my pet, and bike during weekend or downtime.
